Post Doctoral Fellow
Rachel Kanen, Psy.D. is a post-doctoral fellow completing a two-year neuropsychology fellowship under the supervision of Dr. David Black. She currently provides neuropsychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults and serves as a social coach for the PEERS® social skills program.
Dr. Kanen has experience conducting diagnostic, psychological, and neuropsychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults age 6+. She is also well versed in conducting psychotherapy and often balances a client-centered, individualized approach with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. She has worked in outpatient psychiatry, private practice, community mental health, partial-hospitalization, inpatient, and state hospital settings. She has particular experience in working with anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma, and serious and persistent mental illness. She enjoys working with people of various ages and diverse backgrounds.
Dr. Kanen received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from William James College in Boston, MA after completing her APA-Accredited pre-doctoral internship through Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center in Brooklyn, NY. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and Spanish from Franklin & Marshall College
