Kaytlin Lapsa, LCSW-C, is a therapist with diverse experience working in school-based, college, and private practice settings. Ms. Lapsa has specialties in the areas of autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, self-regulation, mood disorders, and family/ relationship issues. Most recently, Ms. Lapsa spent five years working at the Ivymount School in Rockville, MD, providing mental health services for students with autism spectrum disorder and related disabilities. In addition to providing individual and group psychotherapy, she taught social skills classes based on Social Thinking, PEERS®, and Unstuck & On Target curricula. While at the Ivymount School, Ms. Lapsa also led parent education workshops and provided sibling support for families.
Ms. Lapsa’s therapeutic approach is rooted in a strengths-based perspective which emphasizes each individual’s innate ability to identify and achieve personally meaningful goals that promote increased competence, independence, and self-esteem. Ms. Lapsa draws heavily on her advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and she strives to provide clients with concrete, evidence-based tools for optimal mental health and wellness. Ms. Lapsa recognizes the central importance of the family system when providing treatment to children and adolescents, and she values and encourages a highly collaborative relationship with parents and caregivers.
Ms. Lapsa holds a BS in biology from Boston College and an MSW from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice. During graduate school, she completed internships providing mental health services to adolescents with the School District of Philadelphia and Burlington County Special Services School District.
